Scaling up successful practices is essential for national rural development strategies to effectively reduce poverty and foster widespread development, as highlighted by the World Bank (2003). “Scaling-up” refers to expanding, replicating, or adapting successful techniques and approaches to achieve broader impact, while “scalability” describes the potential for innovations to be expanded or adapted. A key challenge for current development models is sustaining these scaled-up initiatives globally. Although scalability is achievable, maintaining long-term sustainability requires re-evaluating the scaling-up approach.
The Northeast Conclave on Sustainability & Scalability serves as a platform to advance these discussions, focusing on development in rural India, especially the Northeast and East. This summit brings together stakeholders to explore sustainable strategies for scaled-up initiatives, aiming to enrich knowledge and provide insights for improved planning, execution, and innovative solutions in sustaining these initiatives.
